We are looking for a Part-Time Kitchen Assistant who will be based in our state-of-the-art Iceland development kitchen. If you are passionate about food and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, then this could be the opportunity for you!
The role of Kitchen Assistant will be to support the Buying Team and Product Process Development Manager in driving the delivery of product quality for all Iceland own brand products. This role will require you to have an awareness of our competitors and shop for samples, responsibility for rotation of products and inform the relevant Buyers when samples have arrived. You will ensure samples are receipted and labelled correctly, record and update all samples received into the department and manage out of date stock appropriately.
You will assist the Home Economist ‘setup’ for panels and meetings when required, and ensuring the area is cleaned afterwards. On occasions you will assist with preparing and serving the weekly Senior Team Lunch and Heart of Iceland lunches.
You will also be responsible for ensuring the Iceland Kitchen & facilities are always kept in excellent condition.
Skills required:
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
- Experience in the food industry or preferable experience working within Product Development for a supplier, retailer, or similar role.
- Knowledge of Food Safety Legislation/HACCP
- Excellent practical cookery skills and good culinary understanding
- Demonstrable interest in food and current trends
- Basic food hygiene
- Driving licence
The hours for this position are Monday to Friday 08:00 - 14:00 OR 12:00 - 18:00, and we are looking for someone who is immediately available.
