We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Operational Analyst to join our eCommerce team within our Head Office in Deeside, near Chester.

 

Overview and Team:

The Insight and Analytics team within eCommerce is a fast-paced business critical area undergoing a program of growth and investment in people to ensure we get the best out of our data and support the wider online trading strategy. The role is ideal for an expert in analytics who wants be part of this exciting growth, someone who is willing to put in the work to contribute to this growth and be rewarded with the support and training to drive their own development and career within the Iceland family!

 

The Role:

You will also be responsible for developing insight and actionable ways of looking at data to drive change within the business from an operational point of view – focussing on our Delivered Sales, Trading and Contact Centre teams. The role will involve line management responsibility for a growing team of analysts; as well as taking ownership of analytics and insights for our Operational teams.

Your focus will be on the way we operate and what our opportunities are to do better. You’ll work with senior stakeholders in the business and will also have the opportunity to work with the other analytical teams and help to drive the whole business forward.

  • Lead and develop the Operational Analytics team.
  • Drive actionable insight from your team so the business can make the right decisions for our customers.
  • Support the Online Trading Strategy through analysing customer behaviour.
  • Use multiple data sources to measure activity and understand the impact of the customer value on our key metrics.
  • Work with our various teams in Delivered Sales to highlight issues within stores and drive best practice in operations.
  • Create a wider understanding of our customers’ concerns and articulate where friction or opportunities can be identified.
  • Work with the wider online team to understand and interpret requirements for new reporting and analysis.
  • React quickly to emerging business challenges and support the leadership team with the information needed to meet these challenges.
  • Proactively create actionable insight across all aspects of the online business.

 

Key Skills and Experience:

Technical Analytical tools and methodologies

At Iceland we have a wide variety of analytical tools and use multiple methodologies, we believe in developing the best toolbox we can to drive value from our data and constantly review and build out new ways of working. Across the team we are utilising tools such as SAS and SQL, leveraging web analytics to understand our customers, developing our reporting delivery through visualisation tools such as Power BI and trialling new modelling techniques to segment our customers.

As a senior member of the online analytics team, you will be expected to help drive and develop these tools and ways of working, so a good working knowledge of analytical coding languages and visualisation tools would be required.

 

Other skills and competencies:

  • Experience in mathematic modelling to help to plan better ways for our business to operate.
  • Experience in line management would be an advantage, but full support and training will be available for applicants ready to take the step up from a single contributor to a leader.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products including a proven track record in using Excel (or similar) to manipulate/interrogate data and present findings in an understandable and engaging way.
  • Create engaging presentations based on findings and articulate technical details to a non-technical audience.
  • The ability to gather, interpret and combine data from a multitude of sources and formats.
  • The ability to deliver accurate, relevant, and timely information, based on solid research.
