Overview and Team:

The Insight and Analytics team within eCommerce is a fast-paced business critical area undergoing a program of growth and investment in people to ensure we get the best out of our data and support the wider online trading strategy. The role is ideal for an experience data analyst who wants be part of an exciting growing team, someone who is willing to put in the work to contribute to this growth and be rewarded with the support and training to drive their own development and career within the Iceland family!

 

The Role:

Working as a key member within a team of multidisciplined analysts the role is a blend of supporting the wider team by investigating issues and opportunities and proactively identifying new ways of driving value from our data. If you’re a person that wants to work out ‘The How and ‘The Why’ as much as ‘The What’, then this is the role for you!

  • Support the Trading Strategy through analysing what products our customers buy, what operational considerations we need to make and supporting fast-paced decision making.
  • Use multiple data sources to support the planning and forecasting of key metrics to help to drive our business forward.
  • Engage and brief senior stakeholders to ensure that the website performance is well understood and acted on as a priority.
  • Work with the wider online team to understand and interpret requirements for new reporting and analysis.
  • Work closer across full analytical team and engage in multiple analytical disciplines.
  • React quickly to emerging business challenges and support the leadership team with the information needed to meet these challenges.
  • Provide and validate information to enable a variety of quick paced and agile business decisions.
  • Proactively create actionable insight across all aspects of the online business.

 

Key Skills and Experience:

Technical Analytical tools and methodologies

At Iceland we have a wide variety of analytical tools and use multiple methodologies, we believe in developing the best toolbox we can to drive value from our data and constantly review and build out new ways of working. Across the team we are utilising tools such as SAS, leveraging web analytics to understand our customers, developing our reporting delivery through visualisation tools such as Power BI and trialling new modelling techniques to segment our customers.

We don’t expect you to have years of experience in all these tools, but we do require you to demonstrate an awareness of what these tools can deliver, display a willingness to learn and adapt and have a proven track record in driving your own technical development.

Other skills and competencies:

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products including a proven track record in using Excel (or similar) to manipulate/interrogate data and present findings in an understandable and engaging way.
  • Create engaging presentations based on findings and articulate technical details to a non-technical audience.
  • The ability to gather, interpret and combine data from a multitude of sources and formats
  • The ability to deliver accurate, relevant, and timely information, based on solid research
  • An awareness of the importance of planning and forecasting within a business and the techniques and methodologies which feed into these activities.
  • Ability to write queries in SQL of varying complexities.
