Description

We are looking for a Packaging Technologist to join our Packaging Team based in Deeside near Chester.  This is a 14 month, fixed-term contract that would suit a driven individual who is looking to develop their network within an established and credible Head Office environment. You will be working with industry leaders. This a rare opportunity to join our business in this exciting and innovative time.

Purpose of the role:

The delivery of Iceland Brand Packaging, on-shelf with a scope that covers technical aspects including, innovation, on-time, quality and the Iceland Packaging strategy (Primary, Secondary, Tertiary).

Drives and delivers Iceland’s work on Plastic Free.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Works to support the delivery of Iceland Brand packaging (Primary, Secondary, Tertiary), covering technical aspects and the Iceland Plastic Free strategy.
  • Cost minimisation and reduction approach to all work, identifies re-engineering possibilities to save money.
  • Full supply chain approach to activity (in store, distribution, suppliers, indirect suppliers).
  • Drives the packaging innovation agenda in support of Iceland business targets, category targets and our customers
  • Customer focused approach to all work
  • Work collaboratively with the Trading, Merchandising, Technical, Development and Packaging teams.

Skills:

  • Effective Supplier Management – Engage with and drive supplier agendas to deliver plastic reduction and cost saving opportunities.
  • Project management – Builds, manages and reports on project based approach
  • Technical Knowledge– Lead the packaging agenda and engage with cross functional stakeholders to provide support in delivering packaging project activity
  • Communications – Communicate accurately, with credibility to internal and external stakeholders. Has the ability to shape communication
  • External Influencing - Liaise with our key external partners (product & packaging suppliers) and shape the agenda to meet our needs

Specialised Skills and Knowledge:

  • Experience in a packaging role
  • Degree qualification preferred.
  • Demonstrable professional experience working to improve packaging and its sustainability impact across a range of substrates/ materials and product categories
  • Previous exposure to FMCG environment
