Description

We have a fantastic and rare opportunity to join the Iceland team, as a Head of Design.

This role will be a great challenge for someone to step up who comes from a creative background.

 

Purpose of the role:

  • Lead the Design, Creative, Photography of the Iceland Group.
  • Creating communications across the Iceland Group businesses.
  • Taking responsibility for driving sales with best in class design, content and customer facing communication across all channels and touchpoints.
  • Maximising the opportunity for design as a key sales driver for the business.
  • Ensuring our products, promotions and trading initiatives are communicated with maximum clarity for customers.
  • Defining the strategic creative direction, brand design, visual language, imagery creation and tone of voice of our brands.
  • Leading the multiple disciplined team within the function.
  • Monitoring and assessing the impact of communications on sales and customer behaviour to constantly refine and improve sales with optimised customer-centric multi-channel communications
  • Empowering the team to deliver work class content and inspire them to deliver the business objectives.

 

Key Accountabilities:

Leading the department to make commercial, data centric, business decisions whilst having the  creativity to stand out from the competition.

  • Use design to drive sales
  • Lead and inspire the teams within the function by defining a clear strategy
  • Develop the design systems and strategies for all group businesses and brands
  • Constantly evolve design language to keep ahead of the competition
  • Use data and available metrics to measure effectiveness of all customer communications
  • Create new brands in any sector
  • Define and deliver marketing campaigns through all channels
  • Define required budgets and effectively manage and optimize all budgets within function
  • Manage supplier relationships ensuring maximum performance and value for money
  • Lead commercial negotiations
  • Contribute to the definition of our core customers
  • Manage the visual presence of our brands in the market and benchmark against competition
  • Provide the department with regular updates on sales and business performance
  • Educate the department on the commerciality of their roles
  • Regularly engage with all aspects of the business – regularly visit stores of all format types across the country, keep up to date with the estate and opportunities to increase sales at a local level
  • Be an ambassador for the Iceland Group and all group businesses and brands
  • Demonstrate the value of design to the business
  • Generate respect for the contribution of the function to the business and engender pride within the function
  • Achieve and maintain a good level of colleague satisfaction
  • Influence ‘ways of working’ across the business with best practice
  • Proactively identify opportunities for business growth
  • Lead by example to provide mentoring and support for colleagues at all levels
  • Demonstrate the direct link between the work of the department and the contribution to business performance
  • Operate at pace, with commercial awareness, pragmatism and maximum efficiency – providing value to the business beyond core accountabilities
