We are looking for an International Compliance Officer to work in the Iceland International Team. This is a great role for someone who is looking for the next step in their career.

Role Summary: 

Responsibility for all technical aspects relating to the export of Iceland/Branded goods to International Markets, including local food safety, customs requirements and legislation, nutritional and quality. The candidate will play an integral and pro-active role in driving commercial growth of the Iceland International business in new and existing markets.

Purpose of Role - Key Accountabilities: 

  • Provide support to Business Support Managers and international customers in achieving International growth targets into new and existing markets.
  • Undertaking market research to identify barriers to export, provide solutions and be pro-active to overcoming challenges.
  • Collaborating and business partnering to suggest key products to customers that would be beneficial, compliant and suitable for the market.
  • Identify gaps in the market and pro-actively seek solutions or alternatives where these gaps exist.
  • Establish key technical requirements of target and existing markets and maintain a portfolio.
  • Liaise with third parties to identify information not instantly available and utilise a broad network of associates to obtain and discover knowledge and information.
  • Work directly with International partners, suppliers, Department for International Trade, Foreign Office, accredited laboratories, Campden BRI, NSF and Customs to gain clarity of requirements specific to that market.
  • Assist in gaining clarity of exact requirements for international market compliance and approving specifications for international-only products.
  • Develop relationships with UK Buying team and UK Technical team to ensure any relevant matters are managed in a pro-active manner.
  • Provide traceability of products in recall situations and communicate to our relevant customers. This may be out of hours on occasion.
  • Provide support for preparation of changes needed in International Export as a result of UK exiting the EU.  
  • Providing customers with stunning service and support with technical knowledge building, queries and administrative tasks when required.
  • Complete all export documentation to meet the rules and regulations of the country of export.

  Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience/Technical Skills:

     Required:

  • Technical experience in a food retail or manufacturing environment.
  • knowledge on food safety and legality.
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to find solutions that help drive projects forward.
  • Be well organised and detail conscious.
  • Able to summarise and explain technical matters to non-technical colleagues.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Have strong commercial awareness supporting management in finding new ways to be profitable while still maintaining standards that must be met for legal or commercial reasons.

Desirable

  • Interest in Food Science or Food related subject qualifications.
  • Knowledge of export certification and processes.
  • Level 3 HACCP or willingness to undertake training to that level.
